Vintage "Sky Buddy" WWII Hallicrafters
Communications Receiver
|
I have been a ham for just over 20 years now,
and have had an interest in
building equipment since I was quite young, but never really got
involved in the hobby until my mid 30's. I began with a morse code
radio station which I built from old TV's, and a restored 1936
Hallicrafters receiver, a "Sky Buddy" of WWII vintage, my uncle's
radio which he listened to when he wasn't flying P-38's in the "slot."
As I progressed, I began
to acquire the usual equipment... However, I still have a strong interest in
homebrew
projects, and wish to encourage all to begin those homebrew
projects today! It is the primary motivation for the publication of
this site...
Recently, within the past decade, I became interested in
amateur digital work. I combined my radio background with my professional
interest in computers and "found" packet radio...
